I often hear hear owners say their home is appraised at? After a few questions I find they are using the tax assessed value as an appraisal. Tax assessed values are used by your local county to assess the amount of tax you owe on your property. These values should not be confused as an appraisal and should not be used as an indication of value although some times they are dead on. Basing your listing price, or if you are a buyer your offer price, on these numbers is not a good idea.
